John Muir Health is the defendant in a lawsuit filed by a former employee who claims the company failed to pay her and similarly situated employees proper wages. The plaintiff says she was employed as a case manager by John Muir Health for 19 years and, beginning in the fall of 2013, began working “off the clock” to meet the defendant’s increased demands due to a smaller labor force and growing number of patients. According to the suit, these hours were not compensated at either her straight-time rate or her overtime rate when they caused her weekly hours to exceed 40.
The suit further claims the defendant failed to provide meal and rest breaks in accordance with California state law.
