Filed: December 1, 2017 ◆§ 1:17cv9439
JJ Food Market Corp. and an individual owner have been accused of violating federal and state labor laws by failing to pay employees proper wages.
JJ Food Market Corp. and an individual owner have been accused of violating federal and state labor laws by failing to pay employees proper wages. The two named plaintiffs in the case claim they worked for the defendants as a cashier and deli worker, respectively, and were not paid required minimum, overtime, or spread-of-hours wages. According to the complaint, they were often asked to work beyond their scheduled shifts and were not compensated for the extra time they spent working. The suit further claims that the defendants denied them meal breaks and rest periods.
One of the plaintiffs argues that he was never compensated for purchasing with his own funds pairs of shoes, 24 pairs of pants, and 30 shirts that he was required to wear at work.
