Golden Star Supply Inc. and Golden Star Kitchen & Bath, Inc. are among the defendants in a proposed collective action in which the plaintiff claims he worked an average of 61.5 hours per week during his eight-year employment without proper overtime pay. The lawsuit, which also names the companies’ three individual owners as defendants, claims the plaintiff worked as a laborer and electrician for the Queens-based joint employers from 2010 through February 2018. The man was reportedly paid a flat rate of $141 per day regardless of the number of hours he worked, an alleged violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and New York Labor Law.
