Glades Parts Company Clipped with Unpaid Overtime Class Action
Last Updated on May 8, 2018
Barohona v. Glades Parts Company, Inc.
Filed: July 25, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-22764-JEM
Glades Parts Company, Inc., owner of Original Equipment, is the defendant in a proposed class action seeking to recover allegedly unpaid overtime wages.
Florida
Florida auto parts supplier Glades Parts Company, Inc., which operates as Original Equipment, is facing a proposed class action claiming it failed to pay proper overtime wages. The plaintiff, a formerly hourly worker employed by the defendant from October 2014 through July 2017, claims he worked nine-and-a-half-hour workdays five days per week, without lunch breaks, and was not paid mandatory time-and-a-half overtime wages for all hours worked past 40 each week. The plaintiff further alleges he worked five-hour shifts every Saturday since October 2015 without being paid for this additional work time.
Further still, Original Equipment allegedly made unauthorized deductions, categorized as “loans,” from the plaintiff’s paychecks. The complaint argues these illegal deductions were an attempt by the defendant to “recapture” commissions paid to the plaintiff as part of the terms of his employment.
