Bosque v. SpecialtyCare, Inc.
Filed: November 27, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-24271-RNS
A former employee of SpecialtyCare, Inc. has filed suit against the company over claims that he and other surgical assistants were not paid proper overtime wages.
A former employee of SpecialtyCare, Inc. has filed suit against the company over claims that he and other surgical assistants were not paid proper overtime wages. The plaintiff claims that he assisted surgeons by performing mostly manual tasks – such as handing them required instruments, tying off stitching, and filling out paperwork – and that his position did not require “advanced knowledge, academic training, or a particular degree in the field of medicine.” He claims, therefore, that he and other surgical assistants should have been paid time-and-a-half overtime wages for the hours they worked above 40 each week. The suit argues that the plaintiff is owed approximately $36,034.54 in unpaid overtime pay.
