Three former employees of New Jersey’s Olivella Restaurant have filed suit against its two operating companies and three individual owners over potential violations of federal and state labor laws. The plaintiffs were allegedly employed as a cook, a dishwasher/preparer/cleaner, and a pizza maker who regularly worked more than 40 hours per week without receiving appropriate minimum and overtime wages. The suit argues that the plaintiffs were often required to work beyond their scheduled shifts for no additional compensation and were paid no wages at all for a few weeks of work in May 2017.
Furthermore, the complaint claims the defendants failed to provide their employees with required meal and rest breaks, accurate wage statements, and notices that detailed their employment rights.
