Powell v. Ikea Industry Danville, Llc
Filed: October 16, 2018 ◆§ 4:18cv58
Ikea Industry Danville is on the receiving end of a lawsuit in which a former employee claims she was not paid for all hours worked.
Ikea Industry Danville, LLC is on the receiving end of a proposed collective and class action in which a former employee claims she was not paid for all hours worked.
According to the suit, the plaintiff worked as a pack team captain at Ikea’s Ringgold, Virginia factory location from 2014 to April 2018. The case alleges that although the defendant required employees to clock in and out, the company routinely shaved time off workers’ reported hours. By way of example, the case states:
“On November 14, 2016, [the plaintiff] clocked in at 6:20 am and out at 3:07 pm (8.8 hours). However, she was only paid from 6:30 am until 3:00 pm (8.5 hours).”
“The net effect of Defendant’s unlawful pay and time-keeping practice is that Defendant failed to pay both straight time wages and overtime premiums in order to save payroll costs and taxes,” the complaint reads.
