A former employee of PPG Architectural Coatings, N.A. has filed suit against the company over claims that he is owed unpaid overtime wages. The plaintiff says he worked for the defendant between March 2004 and October 2017 as a technical service representative and then as a senior technical advisor. According to the complaint, he was scheduled to work eight hours per day with a 30-minute lunch break, but was rarely able to take a break and was often required to perform extra work outside of his normal hours. As a result, the suit alleges, he often worked more than 40 hours per week without receiving proper time-and-a-half overtime wages for the hours he worked above 40. The defendant allegedly classified him as exempt from overtime, but he claims the exemption should not have applied to his position.
