Former Cook Claims FL’s Café Papillon Owes Unpaid Overtime Wages

Besil v. Café Papillon Inc. et al.
Filed: November 17, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-24198-JEM
Cafe Papillon in Miami failed to pay proper time-and-a-half overtime wages, a lawsuit claims.
A former cook is behind a proposed class action in which he claims defendants Café Papillon Inc. and one individual with control over the business failed to pay proper overtime wages. The plaintiff, who worked at the Miami eatery from March through October 2017, says he worked an average of 50 hours per week without being paid time-and-a-half overtime for all hours worked past 40. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) complaint alleges the defendants owe the plaintiff more than $1,500 in unpaid wages.
The plaintiff goes on to claim the defendants, in retaliation for complaining about the café’s compensation practices, began reducing his hours in August 2017, until he was ultimately fired two months later.
