New York New York Pizza, LLC and two individuals who operate the business are facing a former employee’s allegations that they failed to pay him properly and unlawfully terminated him in retaliation for complaining about the supposed wage violations.
New York New York Pizza, LLC and two individuals who operate the business are facing a former employee’s allegations that they failed to pay him properly and unlawfully terminated him in retaliation for complaining about the supposed wage violations. The plaintiff says he began working at the pizzeria in November 2014 as a cook/baker and worked an average of 66 hours per week until he was fired in October 2017. The suit argues that the defendants failed to pay the man proper time-and-a-half overtime wages for the hours he worked above 40 each week and, on top of that, paid him less than the Florida minimum wage for most of his employment. According to the suit, the plaintiff made an average weekly salary of $120.00.
The complaint claims the plaintiff complained to his superiors about his pay and “was subject to adverse employment action” that ultimately ended in his allegedly unlawful termination.
