New York
Four former employees of Five Brothers Auto Spa and Lube Corp. have filed suit against the company and an individual with control of the business claiming the parties violated state and federal labor laws. The plaintiffs each allegedly worked for approximately 72 hours per week vacuuming and cleaning cars without being paid proper wages. According to the suit, the workers were paid between $400 and $440 per week, which the complaint notes is less than minimum wage, and were not provided with time-and-a-half premium wages for the hours they worked above 40. The plaintiffs also claim the defendants denied them spread-of-hours pay for days in which they worked more than 10 hours, withheld $150 from their last paychecks, and failed to provide them with accurate wage statements and notices.
