Holcomb-Jones et al. v. StoneMor Partners L.P. et al.
Filed: September 12, 2017 ◆§ 4:17-cv-01555-VEH
StoneMor Partners L.P., StoneMor Operating, LLC, and StoneMor GP LLC have been named as defendants in a proposed class and collective action that accuses them of refusing to pay their employees overtime wages.
Alabama
StoneMor Partners L.P., StoneMor Operating, LLC, and StoneMor GP LLC have been named as defendants in a proposed class and collective action that accuses them of refusing to pay their employees overtime wages. StoneMor, which the complaint labels “the biggest player in the deathcare industry in the world,” allegedly instructed its employees not to report more than 40 hours on their weekly timesheets, regardless of how many hours they actually spent working, in an attempt to avoid paying overtime. On top of that, the plaintiffs, who were employed as family counselors/advisors, say they were paid only in commissions during some weeks of their employment and therefore did not receive proper overtime wages for those weeks.
The suit notes that the defendants have previously been sued for this conduct in 2014. The plaintiffs, however, allege that they never received notice of the settlement, and that StoneMor has refused to change its allegedly illegal conduct.
