Murray et al v. Ambassador College Bookstores Inc.
Filed: March 6, 2018 ◆§ 2:18cv1388
A current employee claims Ambassador College Bookstores owes her back wages for a period in which she was misclassified as exempt from overtime pay.
Ambassador College Bookstores Inc. is the defendant in a lawsuit filed by a current employee who claims she was not paid proper wages between March 2012 and June 2016, after which time she was reclassified as a non-exempt employee without any change to her job duties. The plaintiff, who’s worked for the defendant since June 2008 as a client service specialist, claims that during the aforementioned period, she was intentionally misclassified by Ambassador College Bookstores as exempt from overtime wages under state and federal labor laws.
The plaintiff says that she worked roughly 46 to 51 hours per week between March 2012 and June 2016 for a flat weekly salary intended to cover only her first 40 hours of work each week, without any additional compensation for her overtime hours.
