Three deputies with the Crittenden County, Arkansas sheriff’s department have sued the county to recover allegedly unpaid overtime wages.
According to the case, the defendant has established a “work period” for all patrol-based deputy sheriffs of 86 hours over a 14-day timeframe. The plaintiffs allege that Crittenden County knew that patrol-based deputy sheriffs worked upward of 40 hours per week and more than 86 hours over each 14-day work period yet failed to pay the officers time-and-a-half overtime wages.
