New York
Three companies and four individuals who operate Delta Deli Market have been named as defendants in a proposed collective action filed by two former employees. The plaintiffs claim they worked at the Brooklyn deli for more than 40 hours per week without receiving proper overtime wages. On top of that, the suit alleges they were paid a fixed weekly salary that didn’t vary even when they were required to work beyond their scheduled hours. According to the complaint, the defendants denied employees proper meal and rest breaks, accurate wage statements, and failed to post labor law notices and reimburse workers for purchasing “tools of the trade” – including aprons – with their own funds.
