Serrano Torres et al v. Ten Westside Corp. et al
Filed: January 12, 2018 ◆§ 1:18cv330
The companies that run the Essen chain of delis across New York City face a lawsuit claiming they failed to pay proper wages.
New York
Two companies that operate Manhattan deli and catering chain Essen are staring down a proposed collective action in which the plaintiff says he typically worked 50 hours per week without proper regular or overtime pay. The plaintiff, a former deli worker employed by the defendants from February 2015 through July 2017, claims that on top of being owed allegedly unpaid wages, the defendants—Ten Westside Corp., 27 Madison Avenue Corp. and two individuals—failed to accurately keep track of employees’ work time. The complaint further claims the defendants required the plaintiff to sign a document—the contents of which he was reportedly not allowed to review—in order to receive his weekly pay.
