Last Updated on May 8, 2018
Bowie v. Nabors Industries
Filed: July 26, 2017 ◆§ 2:17-cv-00974-RCM
Nabors Industries is facing allegations that it unlawfully misclassified workers as independent contractors and failed to pay proper overtime wages.
Oil and natural gas drilling outfit Nabors Industries is the defendant in a proposed collective action filed by a man formerly employed as a solids control operator who claims the company failed to pay him and similarly situated workers proper wages. The plaintiff, who was employed by the defendant from January 2014 through June 2015, alleges he was paid at a day-rate and received no overtime compensation despite regularly working more than 40 hours per week. Moreover, the plaintiff claims Nabors Industries improperly classified its oilfield workers as independent contractors exempt from Fair Labor Standards Act protections, rather than as employees entitled to overtime.
