New York
A former employee of The Kunjip has filed suit against the Korean restaurant’s two operating companies and two individual owners over claims that he is owed unpaid minimum, overtime, and spread-of-hours wages. The plaintiff allegedly worked for the defendants as a dishwasher, food preparer, and cook between February 2014 and February 2018 and was paid a fixed weekly salary that, when divided by the number of hours he worked, supposedly fell below the minimum wage.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff and other employees often worked more than 40 hours per week and 10 hours per day without receiving premium wages. The man also claims his paystubs were not accurate and that the defendants did not post notices in the restaurant informing workers of their rights, as required under state law.
