Mississippi
Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation faces a proposed collective action filed by three plaintiffs who allege the non-profit failed to pay current and former emergency medical personnel—drivers, technicians and paramedics—proper wages. The plaintiffs claim the defendant denied employees time-and-a-half overtime “for many workweeks” between January 1, 2015 and the present in which they worked in excess of 40 hours. The suit claims members of the proposed collective are considered non-exempt employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and are therefore entitled to premium overtime pay.
