Asia Market Corp. Pegged with Wage and Hour Lawsuit
Last Updated on May 8, 2018
Yang v. Asia Market Corp. et al.
Filed: September 11, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-06886
The owners and operators of New York City supermarket are facing a suit alleging they failed to pay proper wages.
A proposed collective action out of New York claims Asia Market Corp. and four individual defendants with day-to-day control of the business failed to pay employees mandatory wages. Filed by a former cashier, the lawsuit argues the defendants should be held responsible for the alleged nonpayment of minimum, overtime, and spread-of-hours wages, as well as the parties’ supposed failure to provide mandatory wage notices at the time of hiring. The plaintiff, who the case says worked for the defendants from July 10 until September 2, 2017, claims she worked at least 60 hours per week for a flat monthly salary without time-and-a-half overtime or spread-of-hours compensation.
