Moore v. U.S. Water Services Corporation
Filed: March 28, 2017 ◆§ 8:17-cv-00726-CEH-MAP
U.S. Water Services Corporation is the defendant in a lawsuit filed by a former employee who claims the water utility company failed to pay employees proper wages.
U.S. Water Services Corporation is the defendant in a proposed class action lawsuit filed by a former employee who claims the water utility company misclassified its employees as independent contractors and failed to pay them proper wages. The plaintiff claims he regularly worked in excess of 40 hours per week without receiving the time-and-a-half overtime compensation entitled to him under the Fair Labor Standards Act. According to the complaint, the plaintiff “performed non-exempt water/wastewater operator services for the Defendant in exchange for an hourly rate.”
The proposed class includes any water/wastewater operator who was misclassified as an independent contractor while working for the defendant at any time during the past three years.
