A class action over unpaid minimum and overtime wages has been filed against insurance provider YourPeople, Inc., which does business as Zenefits FTW Insurance Services. Filed in Arizona, the complaint claims the company intentionally failed to pay the plaintiff at the time-and-a-half hourly rate for the “at least 15 to 30” overtime hours he worked per week.
The plaintiff says his job as an inside sales account executive required him to prospect for business leads—much of which was required to be done on the plaintiff’s own time—and cold call companies in an attempt to sell them the defendant’s human resources software. According to the suit, the defendant required employees to work more than 40 hours each week, with three-hour mandatory meetings held after normal business hours every other Thursday and morning meetings for which workers were not compensated.
