A former employee has filed a proposed class action against True Blue of Pinellas, Inc. and its owner claiming the parties did not pay workers proper wages under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Florida labor laws.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was an hourly employee who worked for the defendants for roughly 18 months running errands, arranging flowers, and responding to emailed and faxed work orders. The defendants allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff time-and-a-half hourly overtime wages for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek, and, in some weeks, failed to pay the plaintiff any wages at all despite “repeated and ongoing promises” from her employer.
