Bolu Inc., which does business as New York City restaurant Turkish Kitchen, and its owner are on the wrong side of a proposed class action that claims employees were not paid proper overtime or spread-of-hours wages. The plaintiff, who worked for the defendants as a dishwasher and kitchen helper from 2012 through November 2016, claims he worked between 67 and 72 hours per week without being paid at the time-and-a-half hourly overtime rate or his spread-of-hours premium owed for shifts that last longer than 10 hours in a day. Additionally, the plaintiff says he would regularly start working 20 minutes prior to the start of his shift and 30 minutes past the scheduled end of his shift without being compensated for this additional time.
