The owning and operating entities of the Townhouse Diner in New York City are the defendants in a proposed class action filed by a former cook who claims he and similarly situated employees are owed unpaid overtime wages. In the 19-page lawsuit, the plaintiff claims he regularly worked more than 60 hours per week without receiving time-and-a-half overtime wages and spread-of-hours pay for shifts that lasted longer than 10 hours per day. Further, the plaintiff claims he was often required to work 30 minutes past the scheduled end of his shifts without pay.
