Alabama
A proposed class action filed in Alabama against Santek Waste Services, LLC and subsidiaries Santek Environmental, Inc., Santek Environmental of Alabama, LLC and Waste Services of Alabama, LLC alleges the companies owe waste disposal drivers unpaid wages. The plaintiff, who drove for the defendants’ Gardendale, Alabama facility from September 2015 until July 2016, claims he and other drivers are owed wages for time automatically deducted from 30-minute meal breaks that class members “routinely” worked through.
“The Santek Defendants violated (and continue to violate) the [Fair Labor Standards Act] by permitting and encouraging their waste disposal drivers, including [the plaintiff] and the putative class members, to perform pre-trip and post-trip work duties ‘off-the-clock’ and without pay,” the case claims.
