Owens v. Hospital Housekeeping Systems, LLC
Filed: July 21, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-00693
Hospital Housekeeping Systems, LLC (HHS) is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit that claims it failed to provide prospective employees with copies of their background reports and their rights before taking adverse action against them.
Hospital Housekeeping Systems, LLC (HHS) is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit that claims it failed to provide prospective employees with copies of their background reports and their rights under federal law before taking adverse action against them. The plaintiff says he interviewed with the defendant for a position as a janitor but was later informed that his application was denied due to his background check. The defendant allegedly neglected to provide a copy of the report or inform the plaintiff of his rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), as required under federal law.
The complaint further argues that the defendant’s disclosure informing applicants that it may conduct background checks is overshadowed by “unnecessary and extraneous information” and fails to stand alone as its own document, in alleged violation of the FCRA.
