Kang Regency Corp., which does business as Regency Cleaners on Second Avenue in New York, as well as Regency Cleaners Inc. and two individuals are the defendants in a proposed collective action brought to recover allegedly unpaid overtime wages. The plaintiff, who worked ironing and delivering clothes for the joint employer defendants from 2002 through May 2017, claims she regularly worked more than 40 hours per week without receiving mandatory minimum, time-and-a-half overtime and spread-of-hours wages. Additionally, the plaintiff alleges the defendants did not keep accurate records of employees’ work time. Specifically, the case claims the plaintiff, at various points during her employment, worked between 53 and 61 hours per week without being properly compensated under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
