Retail company QVC, Inc. and warehouse operator QVC Ontario, LLC face a proposed class action filed over multiple alleged violations of California labor law.
According to the lawsuit, which has been recently removed from state to federal court, the companies failed to pay non-exempt employees time-and-a-half wages for hours worked in excess of eight per day and 40 per week. The defendants also supposedly denied workers proper meal and rest periods, as well as compensation for missed breaks. Lastly, the case alleges employees were not provided accurate wage statements nor paid all due wages in a timely manner after resigning or being discharged from the company. The suit estimates the companies owe workers approximately $7,075,184 in unpaid wages and other damages.
