A proposed collective action filed against Nomac Drilling, L.L.C. and Seventy Seven Energy claims current and former rig welders employed by the defendants are owed unpaid overtime wages. The lawsuit claims the putative class of rig welders were misclassified by the defendants as independent contractors, who are generally not entitled to time-and-a-half overtime compensation. The plaintiff claims he and similarly situated individuals usually worked seven days per week, for a minimum of 84 hours per week, without proper overtime pay.
