A former hairstylist has filed a class action lawsuit against Salon De Quartier, Inc. and its owner over alleged wage and hour violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The lawsuit claims hair stylists at the salon’s numerous New York City locations often worked more than 40 hours per week for a flat rate and did not receive time-and-a-half overtime wages. Further, the plaintiff claims that, for the last year of her employment, she was paid at a commission-only rate even though she often worked more than 40 hours per week.
