Castros v. Signal Finance Company LLC et al
Filed: May 18, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-21870-KMM
Signal Finance Company LLC, Miami Funeral Services & Crematories, Inc., First Cuban Financial, Inc., and three individuals are the defendants in a recent FLSA lawsuit.
Florida
Signal Finance Company LLC, Miami Funeral Services & Crematories, Inc. (which operate National Funeral Homes and Auxiliadora Funeraria Nacional), First Cuban Financial Inc., and three individuals are the defendants in a lawsuit filed by a Florida woman who claims she was denied proper overtime wages and fired in retaliation for complaining about the defendants’ allegedly unlawful conduct. The plaintiff says she was employed as a receptionist/office assistant and that she worked five hours of overtime per week. Instead of being paid at the required time-and-a-half overtime rate for those hours, she was allegedly paid at her regular wage rate in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
The plaintiff claims she complained to one of the owners about her overtime pay and was immediately terminated in retaliation. She says she still has not been paid for her last week of employment.
