LeBlanc v. Halliburton Company
Filed: July 10, 2017 ◆§ 2:17-cv-00718-KRS-GJF
A class action against Halliburton claims the oil and natural gas giant owes some oilfield workers unpaid overtime wages after misclassifying the employees.
Halliburton Company is the defendant in a class action filed in New Mexico alleging the oil and natural gas giant failed to pay certain oilfield personnel mandatory time-and-a-half overtime wages. The plaintiff, employed by the defendant as a directional driller from August 2014 to December 2015, claims he and similarly situated workers were typically scheduled to work 12-hour shifts, seven days per week for weeks at a time without being paid at the time-and-a-half hourly overtime rate for any hours worked beyond 40 in any week. More specifically, the lawsuit claims Halliburton improperly classified certain oilfield workers as independent contractors to skirt its federal and state worker protection and wage responsibilities.
