A class action has been filed against the owning entities of La Rondine Pizza in in Queens, New York claiming the parties failed to pay overtime wages pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and spread-of-hours wages as required by state law. Filed by a former cook, the lawsuit alleges the plaintiff regularly worked at least 63 hours per week, often without breaks on some days, and was paid at a flat rate—in cash—regardless of how many hours over 40 he worked in a week. Additionally, the plaintiff was reportedly not given proper wage notices or spread of hours pay for days in which he worked shifts that exceeded 10 hours.
