Two former employees claim in a proposed class action that Direct Heating & Cooling, Inc. and the company’s owner failed to pay them and similarly situated heating and cooling maintenance technicians proper overtime wages. Filed in Florida, the lawsuit alleges the plaintiffs—who were employed by the defendants until January 2017—were required to work “off the clock” without pay. This off-the-clock work, the case says, included dropping off “helper” employees. According to the complaint, the plaintiffs and proposed class members worked more than 40 hours during almost every week of their employment without being paid at the proper time-and-a-half hourly overtime rate.
