August 22, 2024 – Aramark, Plaintiff Voluntarily Dismiss Washington Job Postings Lawsuit
The proposed class action lawsuit detailed on this page was voluntarily dismissed by Aramark Services, Inc. and the plaintiff.
In a joint motion filed on August 12, 2024, Aramark and the plaintiff informed the court that they agreed to dismiss the case, with each party responsible for their own attorneys’ fees and costs. The parties stipulated that the plaintiff’s individual claims be dismissed with prejudice and requested that the court dismiss her class action claims without prejudice, leaving the door open for a new proposed class action to be filed.
United States District Judge Benjamin H. Settle granted the parties’ motion for voluntary dismissal that same day.

The seven-page lawsuit was filed by a Washington resident who accuses the food, facilities and uniform services company of systematically failing to comply with Washington’s Wage Transparency Law, which requires employers to disclose in every job posting the wage scale or salary range and a general description of all benefits and other compensation to be offered to the hired applicant.
The plaintiff, who applied for a position with Aramark in November 2023, claims the company’s job postings fall short of the statutory compensation disclosure requirements. According to the suit, the job opening the woman applied for simply stated with regard to wages, “Pay: From $16.50 per hour.”
“There was and is no range of possible salaries stated, nor was or is there any wage scale of what employees earn included in the job postings,” the case contends.
As a result of Aramark’s allegedly noncompliant job postings, applicants like the plaintiff are unable to accurately evaluate a position’s pay or compare its compensation rate to other available openings in the job market, the complaint charges.
The Aramark lawsuit looks to represent anyone who, since January 1, 2023, applied for a job opening in Washington with the company where the job posting did not disclose the position’s wage scale or salary range.
