Alfalfa’s Market, Inc. is the defendant in a proposed class action that alleges the grocery chain failed to pay proper minimum and overtime wages. Filed in Colorado, the 35-page complaint says the plaintiff, who worked as a salaried and later hourly paid assistant bakery manager, was wrongly classified by the defendant as an employee exempt from overtime pay despite having job duties that indicated otherwise. The plaintiff and proposed class members say they regularly worked more than 40 hours a week without being paid at the time-and-a-half hourly rate established by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FSLA).
