AKA Central Park Hotel, Others Hit with Wage and Hour Discrimination Suit

SHK Management, Inc., which does business as AKA Central Park Hotel and Korman Communities, as well as several owners/operators are facing a lawsuit over alleged wage and discrimination violations. The plaintiff worked as a housekeeping supervisor for the defendants and claims she wasn’t paid overtime when working more than 40 hours a week. She also claims the company never provided her with a “time of hire notice” detailing her pay rates and payday, failed to keep proper timekeeping records, and didn’t furnish paystubs. The suit also alleges that radio communications used by the housekeeping staff and supervisors were in Spanish – despite the plaintiff’s complaints that she could understand English better and that previous radio communications were entirely in English – and that this was an act of discrimination against the plaintiff, who is Malaysian.
