Athene Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of a data breach that impacted Athene.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were affected.
Pension Benefit Information, LLC (PBI), a company that provides audit and address research services for insurance companies and pension funds, has notified its clients, including Athene Annuity and Life Company, about a data breach. The breach was caused by a vulnerability in the MOVEit Transfer software used by PBI in providing services to a company that administers Athene policies. PBI discovered that a third party accessed its MOVEit Transfer server and downloaded data on May 29 and May 30, 2023.
After conducting a review of its records to identify and confirm the individuals affected by the breach, PBI determined that Athene policyholders' personal information, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers and dates of birth, may have been accessed.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Athene to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
