Acadian Ambulance Service Cyberattack:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Acadian Ambulance Service cyberattack.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from current and former patients of Acadian Ambulance Service.
In early July 2024, reports surfaced that Louisiana-based Acadian Ambulance Service had fallen victim to a cyberattack. The Acadiana Advocate wrote that the company referred to the attack as a "network security incident" and hired a third-party investigator to look into the issue, but provided no further comment.
On July 23, 2024, DataBreaches.net reported that a ransomware gang by the name of Daixin Team had posted a new listing on its leak site after supposedly encrypting some of Acadian Ambulance's servers in June. Specifically, Daixin Team told DataBreaches.net that it had information on 10 million unique individuals, with most of the data appearing to be patient related. One table in the stolen database involves employee information such as names, birth dates, contact information and Social Security numbers, DataBreaches.net reports. Daixin Team indicated to the cyber security site that its negotiations for a ransomware payment began on June 22 (and are still ongoing), with the hackers reportedly requesting $7 million in exchange for not leaking the data. As of July 23, 2024, no data has been leaked.
Acadian Ambulance Service provides emergency and non-emergency transport, air services and at-home medical care, with locations in Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas.
If you are a patient of Acadian Ambulance Service, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, out-of-pocket costs, and more should the stolen data be leaked.
A successful case could also force Acadian Ambulance Service to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
