- This Alert Affects:
- Anyone who purchased Skechers Go Walk shoes and feels the sneakers made them trip or fall, or that they’re unreliable for walking.
- What’s Going On?
- Attorneys working with ClassAction.org have reason to believe that Skechers Go Walk sneakers—despite being advertised as dependable walking shoes—may suffer from a design defect that can cause wearers to trip or fall. They’re now looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed on behalf of buyers.
- How Could a Lawsuit Help?
- A class action lawsuit, if successful, could help customers get back some of the money they spent on their Skechers Go Walk sneakers. It could also force the company to change how it makes or advertises the shoes.
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org want to hear from people whose Skechers Go Walk sneakers have caused them to trip, fall or otherwise lose confidence in their use for walking.
The attorneys believe the sneakers may contain a design defect that makes them unsuitable for walking long distances, despite being marketed as such.
Specifically, they suspect that the very soft soles the Go Walk shoes are made with can compress beyond industry standards over time. This compression can lead to a decrease in toe clearance, which is the distance between the ground and your toe when your foot swings forward as you walk. Failure to reach enough clearance while walking can result in tripping and falling.
A class action lawsuit could help consumers get back the money they spent on their Go Walk sneakers—but the attorneys need to hear from more people who’ve experienced these potential safety issues.
Consumers Complain Online About Skechers Go Walk Shoes
Although Skechers advertises that its Go Walk shoes are “designed for walking,” consumers have reported online that the sneakers have caused them to trip or fall. Others say the sneakers have made them feel at risk of stumbling, which could lead to injuries.
Below is a sampling of online reviews from consumers who have experienced these problems with their Skechers Go Walk sneakers [sic throughout]:
I thought these were the cutest shoes and they were Skechers, so I figured win-win. However, … I cannot wear them anymore because they make me trip and I’m scared to death I’m just going to fall. I really wish these were a win, but they aren’t for me."

I enjoy wearing skechers. However, this shoe is different. I attempted several times to wear them but find that I am constantly tripping or falling with them. The shoe catches and throws me forward. After tripping 5 times at work and falling twice, I trashed them. Just for the record, I am not prone to tripping or falling. This has never happened with the other skechers I have purchased.”
— Patricia M., Amazon.com
I have tripped with Skechers several times in stores. I need to use a shopping cart or I’ll go down. I was in one store and a woman who wasn’t wearing Skechers checked her sneakers and they were fine. They need to reformulate their soles”
— Lynne C, Amazon.com
I bought these shoes to wear indoors on my hardwood and tile floors, to give me traction, and act as a shock absorber. I’ve bought many Sketchers in the past to wear at home, but these ones are not the same quality. The soles are a terrible material that slip all over my floors and give me absolutely no traction, and they project out the sides of the shoe and create a tripping hazard. The material doesn’t act as a cushion like previous Sketchers did. Why does Sketchers keep changing their shoes? Sketchers used to be my go to indoor shoe, but these are the worst shoes I’ve ever purchased. If I could give them zero stars, I would.”

How Could a Class Action Lawsuit Help?
If filed and successful, a class action lawsuit could help customers get back the money they spent on the sneakers. It could also potentially force Skechers to redesign the shoes or change how they’re marketed.
