Lawsuits Filed: Deceptive Pricing, False Advertising? Welcome back! We have a handful of recently filed lawsuits for you in this week’s issue¬—from a VIP program that may not offer as much value as advertised to dog treats that were allegedly falsely marketed. Specifically, the case claims that VIPs did not realize until after enrolling in the program, which offers a credit each month allowing members to buy an outfit for up to $100, that it is “next to impossible” to receive the promised value as very few products are priced that high. The maker of Barkworthies Bully Sticks is facing a new lawsuit that asserts the products aren’t living up to their advertised claims. Specifically, the case alleges that, contrary to front-label claims and online ads marketing Barkworthies bully sticks as an odor-free alternative to traditional products, the treats emit an “offensive” smell when chewed. | ~ In Other News ~ A proposed class action lawsuit was filed after roughly 488,000 Charmast portable charger power banks were recalled in December 2024 due to a possible fire and burn risk. According to the filing, the recalled products, which are sold exclusively on Amazon.com, contain defective lithium-ion batteries that can overheat and ignite. This page has the details. | A recently filed lawsuit claims that Florida Crystals sugar products are misleadingly marketed, given that the brand’s pre-harvest sugarcane burning practices harm the environment and the health of nearby residents.
