The Toxic Baby Food Investigation Expands Deciding what to feed our children can be stressful enough as it is, especially as a new parent. That stress skyrockets when reports begin to surface that certain brands of baby food may contain dangerous levels of toxic heavy metals. As attorneys’ investigation into these claims (and whether lawsuits can be filed against certain manufacturers) continues, more information is coming to light – and more products are being called into question. Below, you can read up on the latest baby foods to come under scrutiny, as well as stories on Subaru’s automatic braking system, GE freezers and the 2019 First American data breach. As always, the latest settlements are also included below. - Ty Armstrong, Writer/Community Manager | When stories started surfacing that some baby foods may contain dangerous levels of toxic heavy metals, attorneys working with ClassAction.org began investigating whether lawsuits could be filed to force the companies behind the products to make a change. At this point, more information is being gathered and more products are coming under scrutiny – with the Walmart brand “Parent’s Choice” being the latest to join the list. Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are investigating whether Parent’s Choice Baby Rusks (the banana and blueberry flavors, specifically) contain high levels of arsenic, lead or other heavy metals. If you bought either of these products, attorneys working with ClassAction.org want to hear from you as part of their investigation. For a closer look at the issue, as well as an opportunity to share your story, head on over to this page. | Temperature Problems with Your GE Freezer? We can easily take for granted the consistent temperatures our freezers provide – until something happens and everything starts to defrost without warning. In the case of certain GE freezers, consumers have reported that their freezers will become unable to regulate temperatures properly and cause the contents inside to defrost and eventually refreeze. In some cases, the freezer will stop freezing altogether or simply shut off even though the fridge itself seems to be working fine. Now, attorneys working with ClassAction.org are investigating whether a defect is to blame and whether lawsuits can be filed to help GE customers recover compensation for money spent repairing and replacing their appliances. So, if this sounds like something you’ve been having trouble with, you aren’t alone – and you can share your story with us here. | Our settlements page is always being updated. | ~ In Other News ~ The EyeSight system used in several Subaru models includes a pre-collision braking feature that can apply full braking force in emergency situations. Sounds convenient, right? Well, some drivers are reporting that the system has a tendency to malfunction and trigger the brakes when they aren’t needed, putting some Subaru customers in situations that range from inconvenient to dangerous. Specifically, reports are indicating that the EyeSight system is detecting obstacles that aren’t there and will unexpectedly cause the vehicle to slow down or come to an abrupt stop. In light of these claims, attorneys working with ClassAction.org are investigating whether an inherent defect is to blame, as well as whether a class action lawsuit could be filed. If a suit is filed, drivers may have the chance to get back the money they spent repairing and replacing components in their EyeSight systems. Furthermore, a successful case could force Subaru to come up with a fix for any automatic braking problems and offer it to drivers free of charge. For a closer look at the investigation so far, as well as what models are potentially affected, check out this page. | With data breaches still making headlines on a consistent basis, it seems like our coverage of the topic isn’t going to slow down anytime soon. One such data breach involves First American Financial Corporation, a company that provides title insurance to homebuyers and allegedly allowed more than 885 million documents containing customers’ Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, financial and tax records, and driver’s license information to be exposed. The breach, which was discovered in May 2019, has sparked class action litigation that attorneys hope will make up for the damage that’s been caused – but the fight isn’t over just yet. If you purchased title insurance from First American and had your information exposed as part of the 2019 data breach, attorneys need you to speak up and share your story to help move the litigation forward. A successful case could allow consumers the opportunity to recover money for damages stemming from the breach, such as fraudulent charges, credit monitoring costs and more.
