New York
The Law Offices of M.L. Zager, P.C. is the defendant in a proposed class action lawsuit filed by a New York woman who claims the debt collector sent her a misleading collection notice. According to the suit, the letter named “Catskill Regional Medicalcenter Center” as the defendant’s “Client” but failed to specifically identify the plaintiff’s “creditor,” “current creditor,” or “creditor to whom the debt is owed.”
Furthermore, the suit argues that the letter miscommunicated the plaintiff’s rights concerning debt disputes by failing to differentiate between disputing the debt and requesting verification.
Finally, the complaint claims the defendant misled the plaintiff into believing an attorney was meaningfully involved in the collection of her alleged debt by neglecting to state that no attorney had reviewed her account.
