A New York woman has filed suit against Retrieval-Masters Creditors Bureau Inc. (which does business as American Medical Collection Agency) over the debt collector’s attempts to collect an allegedly 'non-existent' debt.

A New York woman has filed suit against Retrieval-Masters Creditors Bureau Inc. (which does business as American Medical Collection Agency) over the debt collector’s attempts to collect an allegedly “non-existent” debt.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff received a collection letter from the defendant demanding that she pay a balance of $130.00 purportedly owed to Bio-Reference Laboratories. The plaintiff argues that she “never engaged with the Defendant’s client” and “has never even heard of” the alleged creditor. The complaint notes that the plaintiff had visited a doctor but had never requested or agreed to any medical services that would warrant a fee not covered by her insurance.
