A Wisconsin woman has filed suit against Barclays Bank Delaware after the defendant supposedly placed an automated telephone call to her cell phone without her prior express consent. According to the lawsuit, the plaintiff received at least two phone calls from the bank on December 20, 2017, attempting to contact her mother regarding a Barnes & Noble-branded credit card issued by the defendant. The plaintiff alleges that neither she nor her mother had ever provided the defendant with the plaintiff’s telephone number or permission to contact her. Moreover, the case claims the bank unlawfully used an “automatic telephone dialing system” and/or “an artificial or prerecorded voice” in placing the calls, which were made for non-emergency purposes.
