Northland Group, LLC is facing a Wisconsin man’s proposed class action lawsuit that claims the debt collector failed to clearly identify his creditor.
Northland Group, LLC is facing a Wisconsin man’s proposed class action lawsuit that claims the debt collector failed to clearly identify his creditor. The plaintiff says he received a collection letter from Northland that noted his “Creditor” as “Kohl’s Department Store, Inc.” and his “Original Creditor” as “Capital One, N.A.” The suit argues that the letter failed to specify the difference between the two and which one the defendant represented.
Furthermore, Northland allegedly sent three more letters to the plaintiff that instead claimed his creditor was “Capital One, N.A.” and his original creditor was “CitiCorp.” The complaint argues that the debt collector, as a result, failed its obligation under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act to clearly identify the plaintiff’s creditor.
