Baldelli v. Whitestone Lanes, Inc.
Filed: October 19, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-08080
A blind man has filed suit against Whitestone Lanes, Inc., claiming the entertainment center company failed to make its website fully accessible to visually impaired individuals.
Adding to an ever-growing list of lawsuits alleging Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) violations, a blind man has filed suit against Whitestone Lanes, Inc., claiming the entertainment center company failed to make its website fully accessible to visually impaired individuals. The plaintiff says he attempted to navigate the site but was met with obstacles that restricted him from accessing information about the defendant’s goods and services, including hours, locations, food menus, specials, promotions, bowling leagues, online purchases, and prohibited item policies. According to the suit, the website – www.whitestonelanes.net – lacked alternative text and contained adjacent links that led to the same URL, resulting in confusion and needless repetition. Consequently, the plaintiff says he was unable to “fully and equally use or enjoy” the defendant’s online goods and services.
