Murphy v. Slip-n-Slide Records, Inc.
Filed: November 17, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-24199-FAM
According to a lawsuit, the Warner Music Group subsidiary sent unsolicited text messages to consumers' cell phones as part of a marketing campaign.
Warner Music Group subsidiary Slip-n-Slide Records, Inc. is the defendant in a proposed class action in which the plaintiff claims the label unlawfully sent unsolicited text messages to consumers’ cell phones. The defendant, whose roster of past musicians includes Trick Daddy Dollars, Rick Ross and Jagged Edge, allegedly sent the unwanted texts as part of a wide-scale telemarketing campaign. The plaintiff, who cites potential violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), says he received a text from Slip-n-Slide that read “Drake & Rihanna want to Sign this Singer What you Think?” with links to Apple, Google and Spotify pages where the defendant’s artist’s albums are for sale. The messages were sent using an automatic dialing system, the case claims.
