Walmart Overstates Charging Capacity of Onn Portable Device Chargers, Class Action Claims
Hester v. Walmart, Inc.
Filed: November 14, 2018 ◆§ 5:18cv5225
Walmart is the latest company to face a lawsuit filed over portable power bank device chargers with allegedly overstated charging capacities.
Walmart is the latest retailer to face a proposed class action lawsuit over the alleged charging capacity of portable power bank device chargers. The lawsuit, filed in Arkansas, claims that Walmart has deceived consumers by overstating the charging capacity, measured in milliampere-hours (mAh), of its Onn brand of power banks in an effort to sell more of and charge more for the devices.
According to the suit, Walmart represents its Onn portable chargers as having a charging capacity of 2200mAh. Independent testing has revealed, however, that the devices’ true charging capacity sits at only 1916mAh, the case states.
